Participation in the IETM Caravan Lofoten 2024, hosted by the European Cultural Capital City of Bodø 2024 – Representative: Artistic Director Andreea Căpitănescu
IETM is an international network for contemporary performing arts and one of the oldest and largest international cultural networks, representing the voice of over 500 organizations and individual professionals active in contemporary performing arts worldwide. IETM associated members include official bodies, ministries, arts councils, public funding organizations, and foundations that provide a special forum for cultural exchange, networking, and information on international and regional activities and developments in the performing arts.
The IETM Caravan Lofoten 2024 in Bodø, Norway, is hosted within the European Capital of Culture 2024 program and centers on the theme of periphery versus center, also questioning the absence of Sami art institutions and the representation of Sami artists in this historical region. The Celebrating Trouble. In Light Of program, developed by the 4Culture Association with the support of the Center for Projects Timișoara, funded through the Legacy Timișoara 2023 program, represents the continuation of the cultural programme from 2023 with a focus on national and international artistic representation in the context of constantly reshaping and rethinking the role of arts in today’s societies in Europe and beyond, heavily affected by economic and social crises, as well as political/military conflicts. The activities in 2023 shaped a discourse based on the representation of artists displaced from conflict zones such as Ukraine or Iraq through activities that included residencies and performances, as well as panel discussions and conferences focused on critical expression in the performing arts.
Addressing the need for audience development as a method for civic engagement in local communities and activating the role of culture in the broader European context, Celebrating Trouble. In Light Of 2024 focuses on exchanges of artistic and managerial practices, as well as on disseminating the results and cultural products of Celebrating Trouble. Choreographic Convention, continuing the objectives of Timișoara 2023 – European Capital of Culture.
International Launch and Dissemination of the Celebrating Trouble Catalog
Continuing this mission, the Celebrating Trouble.ChoreoCon catalog will be presented in the cultural context of the Bodø Biennale, offering an important platform for exposing and disseminating the project’s results to an international audience.
